New Delhi, Nov 2 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s road show in Patna on Sunday attracted huge crowds, with senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders calling it one of the biggest political gatherings seen in the state capital.
The event is being held ahead of the crucial Bihar elections to be held on November 6 and 11.
Speaking to IANS, Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal said the enthusiasm on the streets reflects the public’s faith in the Prime Minister.
“Today’s road show was really amazing. I have never seen such a large crowd of people. PM Modi appealed to the people not to let the RJD-led alliance’s “jungle raj” return to Bihar,” he said.
BJP MP and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad described the event as historic, highlighting the tremendous participation of women.
He said, “Lakhs of women were there, many women were performing aarti and showering flowers. We got emotional seeing the respect people had for the Prime Minister.”
Union Minister and senior JDU leader Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh said, “Women cheering from the rooftops shows the unmatched popularity of PM Modi among the households of Bihar. Today’s road show in Patna was huge and it shows the strength of NDA and the popularity of PM Modi.”
Commenting on the welcome of the Prime Minister in Patna, PM Modi traveled in a vehicle decorated with flowers for the road show.
Union Minister Lalan Singh and BJP leader Dilip Jaiswal were also in the car along with PM Modi.
A huge crowd had gathered on the way to see the Prime Minister.
People were seen having darshan from rooftops, while some women performed aarti.
As the convoy passed, supporters raised slogans of “Modi-Modi”.
Many NDA leaders also participated in it, including Ravi Shankar Prasad, Ram Kripal Yadav and local MLA and candidate Nitin Nabin as well as the NDA candidate from Patna city.
After the road show, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Takht Shri Harmandir Gurudwara in Patna City and offer prayers.
The event took place amid tough electoral contest in the state.
BJP workers described the presence of senior leaders of the alliance together as a message of unity for the people of Bihar.
Political observers said the road show is likely to have an impact in the Patna region ahead of voting.
