Ranaut criticized opposition MPs for disrupting parliamentary proceedings last year, saying their constant shouting, jumping into wells and dramatic antics prevented the House from functioning effectively.
“Maybe, except for the last two or three days, he did not allow the House to function at all,” he said, and accused him of turning the sessions into a farce rather than a forum for governance.
On allegations of EVM tampering, he mocked the call for the return of paper ballots, calling it an “old relic of another era”, and said Congress leaders were unwilling to accept electoral defeat.
Taking a dig at opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, he said he expected a “grand revelation” but all he got were metaphors like “khadi, threads and people”.
Ranaut also condemned opposition MPs for displaying the photograph of a foreign-born woman during the debate, calling it a violation of their personality rights.
“Every woman deserves her dignity,” he said. He said the woman had clarified on social media that she had “never visited India” and had “nothing to do with the Haryana elections.” He apologized on behalf of the House.
His comments intensified the already heated feud between BJP and Congress and the EVM controversy continued to dominate the proceedings.
Highlighting the women-centric initiatives of the Modi government, Ranaut cited schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, construction of household toilets and free cooking gas connections.
He concluded by saying that the Prime Minister’s election victory reflected public confidence rather than manipulation of the voting system.
