Raipur, Nov 3 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi created an indelible memory at Chhattisgarh’s silver jubilee celebrations last Saturday when he violated protocol by wearing a vibrant “Mor Mukut” – a crown of peacock feathers, provided by the “Ramnami Samaj”, a sect that has the mantra “Ram Ram” tattooed on its skin as a lifelong pledge to Lord Ram. Tears streamed down the faces of devotees when PM Modi, ignoring security concerns, directed the personnel to bring the ‘peacock crown’ on the stage.
The gesture comes amid the inauguration of Rs 14,260 crore in infrastructure spanning roads, energy grids and medical facilities, eschewing official fanfare, highlighting raw cultural synergy. Elderly Pala Ram covered Narendra Modi with a shawl and praised the PM’s leadership in the construction of Ayodhya Ram temple.
He declared, “Our 200-year heritage flourishes only in the name of Ram – no ceremonies, just endless invocations.” The crown, made amid rigorous fasts to harness pure energy, is a symbol of gratitude. Marking PM Modi’s first such Ramnaami crown and odhni, Pala Ram said, “The king embodies the essence of God; we are happy that he wears our tribal honour.”
The group, lamenting the declining number of cows and urging protection of the heritage, petitioned for cow conservation, sattvik diet and increased village welfare.
Earlier, in Sakti district, he had predicted this coronation, blessing PM Modi as the “returning emperor”.
Palaram further said, “PM Modi had come to meet us earlier and our mother had told him to bring the ‘Raj Mukut’, next time whenever he comes, come wearing the same ‘Mor Mukut’.” Initial security hurdles took a toll, but PM Modi’s prompt intervention turned disappointment into joy, establishing Ramnami as the flesh-and-blood incarnation of Bhakti.”
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai posted an emotional X-video. Praising PM Modi’s compassion in clearing the way for the Taj, she captioned it, “An unforgettable tableau of affection.” With the unveiling of the new assembly and the launch of the Brahma Kumaris’ Shanti Shikhar, PM Modi’s visit reflects piety with policy. In divisive times, it brought greater unity to Chhattisgarh.
