Patna, November 9 (IANS) Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commission of India, accusing them of ‘vote theft’.
Addressing a large rally in Bihar’s Kishanganj, the Congress leader claimed that votes have been stolen in Maharashtra, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh and alleged that attempts were being made to do the same in Bihar.
He said, “Why are these (BJP and Election Commission) people silent on my allegations? Our allegations were true – that’s why these people are silent. They are actually vote thieves.”
He also reiterated his allegation that BJP leaders are voting from two states and accused PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of stealing the election.
The opposition leader alleged that he accused the Prime Minister and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar of stealing votes, but no one countered him.
“Narendra Modi did not clarify even once. He did not say that Rahul Gandhi was lying. The allegations we have made are absolutely true – that is why he is silent,” he said.
He said, “A thief steals, lives in fear and is eventually caught. Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and CEC Gyanesh Kumar have ‘stolen votes’ in India, and they are afraid of the people. One day, they will definitely be caught.”
Rahul Gandhi intensified his attack and accused PM Modi of spreading hatred.
He said, “Narendra Modi’s blood and thoughts are filled with hatred. He wants to divide people. But my blood is filled with love – that is the difference between us.”
The Congress leader also said that the youth of Bihar are not getting employment and they are being forced to migrate to other states for work.
“Wherever I go in India, I see people from Bihar. You have created a place like Dubai with your sweat. If you can create Dubai and Bengaluru, why can’t that development happen in Bihar?” he asked.
Referring to the heritage of the state, Rahul Gandhi said that Nalanda University was once famous across the world and attracted students from Korea, Britain and Japan.
He alleged, “But today Bihar is associated with paper leaks. Here, in every examination, papers are leaked through unfair means.”
Voting in 121 constituencies in Bihar for the first phase concluded peacefully on November 6.
The second phase of voting will be held on November 11 in 20 districts, which will include 122 assembly seats.
The districts where voting is to be held in this phase include West Champaran, East Champaran, Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar, Purnia, Supaul, Madhubani, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, Nawada, Jehanabad, Arwal, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya and Kaimur.
Counting of votes will take place on November 14, when the results will become clear as to who will form the next government in Bihar.
From the stage in Kishanganj, Rahul Gandhi sought votes in favor of Congress candidate Masawwar Alam (Bahadurganj), RJD candidate Saud Alam (Thakurganj), Congress candidate Kamrul Hoda (Kishanganj) and RJD candidate Mujahid Alam (Kochadhaman).
He appealed to the people to ensure the victory of all the candidates of the Grand Alliance and claimed that the mood of the voters of Bihar has turned decisively in favor of change this time.
