Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Maldives on Friday as part of his second phase of two-nation visit. On his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by President Muizu.
The two leaders were seen to greet each other with a hug. Foreign Minister, Defense Minister, Finance Minister and Homeland Security Minister of Maldives were also present on opportunities.
The Maldivian capital, the man, wore a festive eye on Friday, beautified with large posters, colorful banners, and Indian flags, as the island nation prepared to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi for its two -day state trip.
A poster giving a message “Hot greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi” was displayed across the city, in which some banners characterized a picture of PM Modi. Indian flags stood on the streets, and many children were also seen holding the paintings and pictures of PM Modi in anticipation of their arrival.
PM Modi has been invited by Maldives President Mohammad Muizu and will participate in the country’s 60th Independence Day celebrations as a guest of honor.
This is PM Modi’s third visit to Maldives and for the first time by the head of any state or government during the tenure of President Muizu.
Members of the Indian community living in Maldives expressed enthusiasm on the Prime Minister’s visit.
Prior to PM Modi’s arrival, a member of the Indian community told Annie, “We are proud that we have a great leader. We are also proud of Operation Sindoor, action taken by him and development in India”.
During his stay, Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with President Mohammad Muizu to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in major areas.
The visit also marks the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between India and Maldives. India has played an important role in supporting the Maldives through development aid, infrastructure projects and emergency assistance in recent years. (AI)
