PM Modi: Bihar victory paves the way for uprooting ‘Jungle Raj’ in Bengal

New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS) In his victory address, which carried Bihar’s election tsunami to the troubled shores of West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the sacred flow of the Ganga from Bihar to Bengal as a metaphor for the BJP’s unstoppable march.

Speaking at the BJP headquarters amid a jubilant crowd, PM Modi vowed to end the “jungle raj” that has haunted Mamata Banerjee’s rule, and described the NDA’s Bihar sweep as a harbinger of change in the neighboring state.

The PM said, “River Ganga flows through Bihar to Bengal. Just as it has paved the way for victory for the BJP in Bihar, similarly it will now lead us to end the jungle raj in West Bengal.”

His remarks in his post-poll victory speech drew thunderous applause, signaling the party’s intention to step up its offensive in Bengal ahead of the 2026 assembly elections.

Bihar’s landslide mandate – with the NDA getting over 190 seats in the 243-member assembly – has electrified the BJP’s national narrative.

PM Modi attributed the victory to a powerful “women-youth” (MY) formula that emphasized women empowerment and youth aspirations rather than “appeasement politics”. He said, “Bihar has rejected lies and division; it has chosen trust and unity. This wave will flow to Bengal too.”

The reference to Bengal is not mere rhetoric. Amid growing allegations of anarchy, syndicate raj and minority appeasement at TMC, the PM’s words strike at the core of Banerjee’s 13-year dominance. “I assure my brothers and sisters in Bengal: together, we will uproot Jungle Raj,” he reiterated, evoking memories of Lalu Prasad’s Bihar era.

Analysts see this as a strategic pivot, taking advantage of Bihar’s caste-alignment – from EBC to Paswan – to make inroads into Bengal’s fragmented vote banks, including the Matuas and Rajbanshis.

PM Modi’s speech has increased the buzz of a contest with high stakes. As the Ganga turns east, so does the saffron surge – a clarion call that Bihar’s good governance blueprint may soon wash away Kolkata’s perceived lawlessness.

In Bihar, Nitish Kumar’s third term is imminent, but at the national level, this victory enhances PM Modi’s aura, calming jitters after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. For Bengal’s 10 crore voters, the message is clear: change is flowing your way, one river at a time.

After NDA’s landslide victory in Bihar elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached BJP headquarters and addressed party workers. During his address, PM Modi lauded the NDA’s victory in Bihar and development under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and congratulated the citizens of the state for electing a ‘government of good governance’.

Taking aim at the opposition, the PM also said that with today’s decision, Bihar has now rejected appeasement politics and nepotism.

Before PM Modi, Union Minister JP Nadda addressed BJP workers and said that with today’s election results, Bihar has said “no entry to jungle raj”.

After 12 hours of counting, NDA has a clear majority by winning more than 140 seats. BJP is heading towards a record victory by winning 76 seats and taking lead on 14 others. Nitish Kumar led JDU has won 60 seats so far. Chirag Paswan’s LJP-RV has won 14 seats.

The Grand Alliance has a slight lead and is now desperate to capture even 40 seats. RJD is leading on 26 seats, while Congress is leading on five seats.

After the results of Bihar elections became clear, now the contest has become completely one-sided. The ruling NDA increased its lead minute by minute.

Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party, which claimed to be an alternative option for voters, has so far failed to gain traction. RJD is struggling even to reach 40.
