New Delhi, 23 September (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called upon citizens actively participating in the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, described it as an inspiring initiative which reflects collective responsibility and a sense of national pride.
In a message shared on X today, the Prime Minister said, “This cleanliness initiative is very encouraging. I urge more people to join this campaign and make it successful.”
The Prime Minister’s call for a large -scale support for cleanliness initiative came a day when several BJP leaders in Delhi hit the road to clean public places.
Delhi BJP leaders started a cleanliness drive around flyover at 71 places as part of the service fortnight of Delhi government, which is a 15-day campaign to celebrate PM’s birthday by social service and public welfare campaigns till 2 October on 17 September.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, along with BJP workers, local Public Works Department and Municipal Corporation employees, symbolically started a cleanliness drive in the bus stop and its surrounding areas under Rose Garden, ITO flyover.
Municipal councilor Ramkishore Sharma and Northeast District BJP President Britain Chaudhary also participated in the campaign.
Sachdeva said, “Continuous efforts are required to make Delhi beautiful, and one -day campaign is not enough. Cleanliness must be part of behavior, and all citizens need to join hands for efforts.”
At another point, Safdarjung-Sarojini Nagar flyover and bus stop under its surroundings, Delhi BJP media chief Praveen Shankar Kapoor, South Delhi District President Maya Bisht, Municipal Councilor Arun Bhatti, and other BJP workers started a cleanliness drive with local workers of the public work and municipal departments.
With the general secretary of Delhi BJP’s organization, BJP workers, local Public Works Department and Municipal Corporation employees, symbolically launched a cleanliness drive in Rajghat, Rajghat bus stop and surrounding areas.
Pawan Rana was included by municipal councilor Sandeep Kapoor and state spokesperson Yasir Jilani.
