New Delhi, 23 September (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated veteran journalist Rajat Sharma on his election as news broadcasters and Digital Association (NBDA) president, who underlines his important role in conducting media industry through his permanent impact in Indian journalism and a period of rapid development.
In a congratulatory letter addressed to Sharma, who is also the President and Editor of India TV, the Prime Minister praised his decades of journalism service, given that his leadership comes at a time when both traditional and digital media are going through significant changes.
PM Modi wrote, “The association will benefit from your decades-dear experiences in journalism, your deep understanding of various subjects and your credibility.” “Your guidance will be particularly effective in the media and digital world, going through modern changes.”
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that under the leadership of Sharma, NBDA would continue to increase journalism standards and maintain its commitment to public interest and national integrity. He said, “I am confident that NBDA will reach new heights under your leadership,” he said, wishing Sharma success in his new term.
Sharma’s re -election was confirmed during the NBDA Board meeting held on September 19, 2025. He will serve as President for the tenure of 2025-2026, leading the largest union of private news broadcasters and digital media institutions in India.
The NBDA Leadership Team consists of MV Shreyams Kumar to join Sharma, who is the Managing Director of Mathruubumi Printing and Publishing, who has been appointed vice -president, and the chairperson and managing director of News 24 Broadcast India, Aurad Prasad Shukla, who will serve as honorary treasurer.
NBDA plays an important role in navigating challenges and developing the expectations of the audience, a major regulatory and representative bodies for India’s news broadcasting sector, promoting the press freedom and developing the challenges arising from digital disruption.
Once again, with Sharma, the association is expected to continue its advocacy for journalism and innovation responsible in the distribution of news, strengthening its relevance in a dynamic media environment.
