Presumably, Google will offer emergency satellite connectivity on the Pixel 9 series. The Samsung Exynos 5400 modem is integrated into the company’s rumored next-generation Tensor G4 chipset and is believed to enable satellite access on the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. Google hasn’t revealed any details related to the feature, but a new leak gives us an idea of how the satellite connectivity system will work on the Pixel 9 series. The user interface indicates that animations will help guide users to move their phones to connect to nearby active satellites.
Nail Sadykov (@Nail_Sadykov) leaked a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing off the interface Android will provide when users try to connect to satellites. As shown in the video, the user interface will instruct the user to point the phone at the satellite. Users must keep the satellite icon within the circle to ensure connection. Sadykov said the user interface can be minimized to a floating window to view other applications and maintain a connection to the satellite while texting with emergency services.
Here’s a first look at the Android Satellite Pointing UI

The prompter further claim Users will see notifications from Satellite SOS asking them to “avoid buildings, trees and mountains to get a clear view of the sky.” This is to ensure that the signal from the satellite is not interrupted by obstructions.
A recent report citing Google insiders claimed that the Pixel 9 series, Pixel Fold 2, and Google’s rumored 5G tablet will feature satellite connectivity. The Pixel 9 series may be the first phones to support Android’s native satellite implementation.
Google will reportedly work with T-Mobile to offer satellite connectivity integrated with Android 15. Additional providers may be added later. The new Samsung Exynos 5400 modem of the Tensor G4 chipset is said to offer an upgraded software stack to enable satellite-based communications. According to reports, the satellite link will allow texting. Users will be asked basic questions and predefined answers to identify emergency situations.
