The tradition of bullfighting is deeply rooted among the Luhya community in Kakamega County, Kenya. It began as a form of entertainment and post-harvest celebration, and has evolved into a sport that attracts thousands of youth who bet on the bulls.

On November 29, two bulls were brought face to face in an arena and the locals cheered them on.

A newcomer Bull named Shakahola faced longtime favorite Promise, who had lost only a handful of matches in 10 years.

They closed their horns and tore the ground. Dust swirled around them, obscuring the view for those close to the action.

The match was over in about three minutes. It was a victory for Shakahola and the crowd began singing and dancing as Promise ran off the field with blood stains on his skin.
