philadelphia Police searching for a 23-year-old woman who disappeared from her nursing home job nearly two weeks ago found human remains Saturday.
Police held a news conference Saturday to give an update on Cada Scott’s disappearance and released a statement saying investigators have recovered “human remains believed to be hers.” but john stanfordDeputy Commissioner of Philadelphia Police DepartmentThe remains, found in a wooded area behind an abandoned school, fell short of confirming they were Scott’s.
According to Stanford, an anonymous tip led police to an area they had previously searched. He said the remains, believed to be the body of a woman, were found in a shallow grave. He said it appeared the man had been dead for several days.
He said, “We are not going to confirm at this point whether it is Cada Scott because that has to be done by the medical examiner’s office.” “There is still a lot of work to be done.”
Stanford said investigators were in contact with Scott’s family on the developments but declined to answer specific questions, citing the active investigation.
Police spokeswoman Tanya Little said Sunday the department had no update. A message left for the medical examiner’s office Sunday was not immediately returned.
This case has raised questions on the justice system.
Twenty-one-year-old Keon King has been arrested on kidnapping, stalking and other charges in connection with Scott’s disappearance. He was released after being charged in a similar case earlier this year.
In the Scott case, King’s bail has been set at $2.5 million. He is still in custody and has a preliminary hearing next month. His defense attorney did not respond to a message seeking comment.
