Justin, 05/10/202505/10/2025

New Delhi, 4 October (IANS) Supreme Court on Monday, Gitanjali, wife of Sonam Wangchuk. A petition filed by Angmo has been slated to hear, which challenges the custody of the Leh-based climate activist.

According to a callist published on the Apex Court website, a bench of Justice Arvind Kumar and NV Anjaria will raise the case for hearing on 6 October.

In a tweet posted on social media platform X on Friday, Angmo said, “I sought relief from India’s Supreme Court through a captive corpus petition against Sonam Wangchuk.

The Union Home Ministry blamed Sonam Wangchuk for inciting violence in Leh Town.

Wangchuk was on hunger strike from September 10, and when the violence started in the city, he broke his fast and ran away from the spot in an ambulance.

The worker was later detained under the National Security Act (NSA) and transferred to Jodhpur Jail in Rajasthan.

Both Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), leading the movement for the state and UT’s inclusion in the 6th schedule, demanded unconditional release of Sonam Wangchuk and all others were detained on 24 September, in which four citizens were killed in addition to fixing responsibility for firing.

Four local people were identified as Jemet Dorje of Kharank, Rinchen Dadul of Hanu, Stanzin Namgel of Igu and Tswang Tharatin of Scarbucha.

The UT administration has ensured that the security forces had to set fire to self -defense when uncontrolled protesters teased stones and tortured a CRPF vehicle with the intention of burning the jawan inside the vehicle.

The mob also held the local BJP office and the laboratory office, while the vehicle of DGP SD Singh Jamwal was demolished, and the police chief escaped with injuries.
