Mysore, Oct 18 (IANS) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called on people to avoid the company of Sanatanis, saying people should associate with those who stand for the society, and avoid the company of Sanatanis and opponents of social change.
Speaking after the silver jubilee celebrations of Mysore University and inaugurating the new Gyan Darshan Bhawan, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called for vigilance against the Sangh Parivar and the RSS, saying they had opposed BR Ambedkar’s Constitution in the past and continued to do so today.
Siddaramaiah praised Ambedkar as a great visionary who used his knowledge to bring about social change.
Siddaramaiah said, “He studied the society deeply to understand it and then used his knowledge for the betterment of the society throughout his life.”
He criticized BJP and Sangh Parivar members for carrying out false propaganda in the name of Ambedkar.
Siddaramaiah said, “They claim that Congress defeated them in the elections, but the truth is that Ambedkar himself had written in his own handwriting that he had lost to Savarkar and Dange.”
He urged the society to expose such lies of the Sangh Parivar by presenting the truth.
He told that he had established Ambedkar School of Economics so that the students studying there could follow the path of Ambedkar.
He said, “Ambedkar is Ambedkar himself. No one else can take his place. But everyone should follow his ideals and follow his path.”
Siddaramaiah explained in detail that Ambedkar studied constitutions from around the world, adopted the best ideas and gave India the best constitution in the world suited to the Indian society.
Referring to the incident of shoe being thrown at the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, he said that this is proof that vestiges of conservative, casteist and elitist mentality are still present in the society.
He emphasized that shoe throwing is not just a concern of Dalits; Everyone should oppose such acts.
“Only then can society remain on the path of change. I have faith in the thoughts of Buddha, Basava and Ambedkar. Therefore, rationality and scientific thinking have to be nurtured. Do not remain superstitious even after studying science.”
Siddaramaiah welcomed the inauguration of the “World Scholars Ambedkar Sabha Bhavan” on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Center for Ambedkar Studies at the University of Mysore.
He highlighted that inequality arises because not everyone gets equal opportunities.
He said, “Education is not a property inherited from one’s parents – opportunities must be provided. When opportunities are provided, people become learned and intelligent.”
He concluded by saying that Ambedkar was a great visionary who used his knowledge for social change.
