Pedro Porro has sent a message to Tottenham Hotspur fans following Saturday’s 3-3 draw away at Southampton.
Spurs needed a win after watching Newcastle United pile the pressure on them with a victory at Nottingham Forest on Friday.
Tottenham appeared to be heading for three points as they took a 3-1 lead into the final 15 minutes.
Yet this was a case of watching Tottenham crumble again as Theo Walcott brought the Saints back into it.
Tottenham fans probably knew what was coming and were hardly surprised when James Ward-Prowse scored a late penalty for Southampton.
Antonio Conte then decided to go on a full-scale tirade about his players, accusing them of being selfish and lacking desire.
This is a whole mess for Spurs right now but if there was a positive from Saturday, it may well be Pedro Porro’s display.
Pedro Porro sends message to Tottenham fans
Porro has been showing encouraging attacking signs in recent weeks.
After hitting the bar at Wolverhampton Wanderers, the deadline day signing from Sporting picked up an assist for Harry Kane last week.
Porro has now grabbed his first goal for Tottenham, smashing a powerful strike in off the crossbar against Southampton.
The Spaniard wasn’t even on the pitch for Tottenham’s final blow having been substituted before Ward-Prowse’s penalty.
Porro would have hoped to see his teammates wrap up the win but was left very disappointed.
Porro took to Twitter to say that he was happy with his goal but the result just wasn’t good enough, adding that Tottenham must now stay together after a difficult result.
There was also a message for Son Heung-min; Porro posted a clip of their celebration together and stated the pair have a ‘special connection’, something Tottenham fans will be excited to see more of going forward.
In other news, Newcastle told Allan Saint-Maximin ‘didn’t work hard enough’ at Nottingham Forest
