Pedophile who raped two-year-old child jailed

A sex offender who abused and raped children as young as two years old and shared the footage online has been handed a life-long restraining order.

Benjamin Young created and managed private chat rooms as part of a pedophile network to facilitate the exchange of indecent images of children.

The 43-year-old targeted 10 children and one adult, raping one child at least 26 times.

Police eventually arrested the chef, the court heard Scotland The National Crime Agency received intelligence that someone at Young’s address was distributing indecent images of children to pedophiles in Denmark.

Nearly 20,000 indecent images and videos were seized after Young’s home was raided.

After his arrest, Yang was questioned by police but remained completely silent during the interrogation.

Judge Lord Arthurson told Young: “As I pointed out when I last heard the case, there are occasionally cases of criminal conduct in court that are so abhorrent that words are simply not enough to express the appropriate public revulsion.

“Mr. Yang, your crime is really serious. Your crime has plunged into the abyss of depravity.

“In this case it is almost impossible to believe that anyone could do the same thing to your child victim.

“In short, you sexually abused and raped children as young as two years old, systematically filmed the abuse and then posted the resulting images and footage online to a pedophile network where you were played a key role.

“You yourself are clearly a calculating, complete pedophile.

“In my view this is one of the worst cases of its kind ever heard by the High Court. You can be assured that your sentence today will reflect that bleak reality.”

Young’s offending took place between January 2021 and December 2022, mainly in Argyll and Bute.

He admitted 32 charges at the High Court, including rape, sexual assault and possessing, photographing and distributing indecent images of children. Glasgow Sentenced in the High Court in December Edinburgh Tuesday.

Lord Arthurson said: “The level of breach of trust, manipulation and calculation involved in this crime is simply unbelievable.

“You inflicted disaster on the most defenseless members of our society and their families, and showed no remorse.”

Young was jailed for at least 12 years before being eligible for parole and placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.

If released back into the community, he will continue to be supervised by criminal justice social workers as part of a lifetime restraining order (OLR) and could find himself back in prison if he offends again.

Young is also banned from contacting his victims.

The judge noted that the child abuse images recovered from Young’s devices were at the “worst end of the spectrum.”

Yang is said to be active on the dark web.

Lord Arthurson added: “Such is the basis and escalating nature of your online taste and addiction that, by your own admission, you saw adults being murdered in a particular virtual room.”

Young was assessed as meeting criteria for autism.

He is also said to suffer from “a range of personality disorders” including “paedophilic disorder” and “psychopathic traits”.

Lord Arthurson said: “The assessor further considered the chats in which you participated and concluded that you were targeting children for abusive sexual violence.

“Not surprisingly, the designated assessor considered the risk to you to be high.”

Detective Inspector Adrian Ure, of Police Scotland’s National Child Abuse Investigation Unit, described Young’s behavior as “truly shocking”.

He added: “Young is directly responsible for creating demand, which resulted in the horrific sexual abuse and suffering of children in the images and videos he created and shared.

“Detectives worked tirelessly throughout the extensive investigation and as a direct result Young will now rightly face a custodial sentence and the consequences of his actions.”
