I can understand the difficulties faced by the families of fishermen due to the current circumstances,” he said in a statement.

The deputy CM said that due to the ongoing assembly sessions, he is unable to travel personally and discuss directly with fishermen. “However, I am discussing their issues with district and state level officials from Monday to find solutions. I have directed that every issue raised should be taken into consideration and the solutions should be detected,” he said.

Pawan Kalyan, who is also an MLA from Pithapuram constituency in Kakinada district, announced that a committee will be formed to include pollution control boards, officials of industries, fisheries and revenue departments and officials of Kakinada District Collector. It has been decided to include representatives of fishermen and local leaders in this committee.

For the second day, the score of fishermen and their family members staged a picket, demanding that the government investigate marine pollution from pharma companies along the coast. He alleged that the release of chemicals in the sea is destroying marine life and affecting their livelihood.

The protesters blocked the Upapada-Kakinada-Pittapuram road to give voice to their concerns.

Meanwhile, Kakinada District Collector Shaan Mohan Sagili visited the area where farmers are staging a dharna and heard the complaints of fishermen who also demanded compensation of Rs 1.50 lakh for each family.

The collector assured the fishermen that their representatives would be included in the committee to discuss and solve the issue.
