Bihar Assembly Speaker and BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav is a seven-time MLA from this region. First, Nand Kishore Yadav won from Patna East in 1995. Since then, he has maintained his stronghold on this seat by winning consecutive elections.
However, the BJP refused to give ticket to the senior leader and has fielded lawyer Ratnesh Kushwaha in his place in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Kushwaha was earlier in the news when he fought a case in the Patna High Court against the Bihar Congress over an AI-generated video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother Hiraben Modi.
He is among the 10 candidates who are contesting from Patna Sahib seat in the 2025 assembly elections in Bihar. His main rivals are Congress’s Shashant Shekhar and Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraj Party’s Vineeta Mishra.
Shekhar has done civil engineering from IIT Delhi and is a management graduate from IIM Kolkata. He joined Congress in 2022.
