An 18-year-old girl from Jehanabad district, who was preparing for the NEET medical entrance exam, was found unconscious in her room at a private girls hostel in Patna’s Chitragupt Nagar on January 6.

She was immediately taken to the hospital and later transferred to other facilities, but died on January 11 after being in a coma for several days.

At first, the police speculated that the girl died by suicide after taking an overdose of sleeping pills and suffering from typhoid.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) took six people suspected of being involved in the crime for DNA testing, which was conducted under the supervision of a magistrate to ensure due process. These DNA samples will be compared to the FSL findings to determine the suspects’ involvement.

Medical Board chief Dr Binay Kumar said the documents they have received so far are not sufficient and they are waiting for more information while the SIT continues its investigation.

He said, “We have not yet received all the important documents from the SIT, so we cannot give any opinion or conclusion. The documents given so far are not enough, and we are waiting for more. The SIT is investigating and the medical board has started reviewing the documents.”
