according to indictment recipient IndependentJP Miller, the 46-year-old former pastor of Solid Rock Church, allegedly engaged in a pattern of unwanted and harassing communications against his estranged wife beginning in November 2022 and continuing until his death on April 27, 2024.
Although Micah Miller’s death was officially ruled a suicide by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office in May 2024, his family’s allegations The abuse prompted further investigation, culminating in the federal indictment of J.P. Miller.
Prosecutors allege that the behavior included posting a nude photo of Micah Miller online without his consent, contacting him repeatedly – in one instance, more than 50 times in a single day – and placing a tracking device on his vehicle.
Investigators also say JP Miller interfered with Micah Miller’s finances, his daily activities and damaged the tires of his vehicle.
In interviews with federal agents, J.P. Miller has been accused of lying about key aspects of his operations.
While he claimed to have hired a private investigator to protect Micah Miller from purchasing a firearm due to his alleged mental health issues, prosecutors allege that the investigator was actually hired to cyberstalk him in the case of alleged adultery.
The indictment also states that J.P. Miller denied damaging Micah Miller’s tires, despite evidence that he purchased a tire deflation device online and sent messages regarding the victim’s vehicle.
J.P. Miller now faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison on the cyberstalking charge and up to two years in prison for making false statements, as well as potentially being fined a total of $250,000.
His arraignment is scheduled for January 12, 2026 in federal court in Florence, South Carolina.

The case of Micah Miller received national media attention after he was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in Lumber River State Park, North Carolina.
Micah Miller’s death was officially ruled a suicide by medical examiners, although family and friends publicly expressed concern that it was a death by suicide, citing alleged domestic abuse and coercive control by JP Miller, which he spoke out about in social media posts.
Micah Miller filed for divorce from JP Miller twice: first in October 2023, which was dismissed in February 2024, and again on April 15, 2024, just days before his death.
Micah Miller’s body was found about 131 feet from where her purse, phone, and shell casings were, leading her family to argue that it could not have floated there naturally and may have been moved.
Her body was turned over to JP Miller and cremated without an autopsy, toxicology report or gunpowder residue testing, which her family said destroyed vital evidence.
Micah Miller’s two siblings claimed in court documents that they feared for their lives during the divorce proceedings, with his sister Sierra Francis saying that Micah would often say, “If I got a bullet in the head, it was JP.”
In May 2024, a month after Micah Miller’s death, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office released footage showing him purchasing a gun and driving to a park, where he called 911 and said he planned to take his life.
JP Miller has denied any abuse or involvement in his wife’s death. Despite ongoing concerns from his family and attention from social media campaigns using #JusticeForMica, he was never considered a suspect in the investigation into his death.
In November 2024, the FBI searched JP Miller’s Myrtle Beach home, although the reasons for the raid have not been disclosed.
