Mr. Whomnani told the BBC, “They wanted to be able to sit, so we made a few benches, and 100 per cent of the people we talked to, many more people said that they want to reach the tree and be able to touch it,” Mr. Wahinni told the BBC.

He said: “I really hope what we have done in a small way, allows the people of Northernland and those who keep this tree closer to their hearts, they keep their hearts closer to the damage that they still feel from the day in September 2023 when the tree was illegally cut. The work is coming again with hope, the tree will always look forward, and the cycle is always a magical place.

Northernland National Park Authority (NNPA) received letters, emails and messages in visitor books with people talking about trees.

“To be a part of that tree with this beautiful installation today to sit here, it gives me a ray of hope for the future, it’s time to look forward and there is a time for us to do positive things for nature.”

The tree was not the largest or oldest in the UK, but it was procreated for its picturesque settings to be symmetrically planted between the two hills, which was to protect the north -west border of the Roman Empire in 122 AD along the ancient wall built by Emperor Hadrian, and to attract generations of followers.

The tree was known to the locals, but attracted international attention to Kevin Costner’s 1991 film “Robin Hood: Prince of Chors”. It attracted tourists, lovers, landscape photographers and even those who spread the ashes of loved ones.
