Composer-singer Shankar Mahadevan, percussionist Zakir Hussain, composer Kalyanji-Anandji of the duo Anandji arrived on Tuesday to pay their last tribute to late singer Pankaj Udhas. Pankaj Udhas died on Monday after battling a prolonged illness. He was 72 years old at the time of his death. The news of his death was confirmed by the singer’s family. A statement issued by the Udhas family said, “With a heavy heart, we are sad to inform you of the tragic demise of Padmashree Pankaj Udhas on February 26 due to prolonged illness.” Singers, actors and celebrities from various genres mourned the demise of the music legend. Sharing a happy picture of Pankaj Udhas on stage, Shankar Mahadevan wrote in the caption, “Just can’t digest it!! Heartbroken.. a huge loss to our music fraternity. What a wonderful gentle soul he was.. you will be loved.” Pankaj ji will be remembered! May his soul rest in peace.” To keep an eye:
Hariharan, who shares cordial relations with the music legend, shared a picture with Pankaj Udhas and Anup Jalota. Speaking about their 45-year-old friendship, Hariharan wrote, “Today, I am at a loss for words as I mourn the demise of a music legend, Pankaj Udhas ji. Our friendship and collaboration spanned 45 years, An unforgettable journey.” Tunes and deep mutual respect. His monumental legacy in the music industry is unparalleled, and his passing has left a void that cannot be filled. Singer Sonu Nigam posted the veteran singer’s picture on his Instagram feed and wrote, “The most important part of my childhood has been lost today. Mr. Pankaj Udhas ji, I will always miss you. It tears my heart to know that you are here. ” not anymore. Thank you for being there. om Shanti.”
News agency PTI quoted a family source as saying that Pankaj Udhas died at Breach Candy Hospital at around 11 am.
Chandani Raat Mein, Na Kajre Ki Dhaar, Aur Ahista Kijiye Baatein, Ek Taraf Uska Ghar and Thodi Thodi Piya Karo are among his famous ghazals. Pankaj Udhas also made appearances in films such as Yeh Dillagi, Saajan and Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayee.
