New Delhi, Oct 11 (IANS) As the Bihar Assembly election process gained momentum, BJP’s Bihar state president Dilip Jaiswal on Saturday confirmed that the party’s state election committee has finalized its panel of candidates after three consecutive days of deliberations in Patna.
Now the focus has shifted to the national leadership, with the central core group holding discussions in Delhi to finalize the first list of BJP candidates.
“Bharatiya Janata Party in Bihar held election committee meetings for three consecutive days in Patna. The committee prepared priority panels for our existing seats and the constituencies we lost in 2020. Bihar Election Committee finalized the panel today; discussion on it will continue throughout the day in Delhi and after that the central election list will be finalised.”
Top BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda and key leaders from Bihar, are scheduled to meet at Nadda’s residence in Delhi for an important meeting of the core group. The agenda will focus on evaluating the panel of names submitted by the Bihar unit and making a seat-by-seat strategy for the upcoming elections.
This high-level meeting has taken place after almost finalizing the seat-sharing arrangement of NDA in Bihar. Its official announcement is expected to be made in Patna on Saturday. Party insiders indicate that the first list of candidates is likely to be announced by October 13 and may include a joint NDA slate, indicating strong alliance coordination.
Meanwhile, NDA allies including Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) president Jitan Ram Manjhi have expressed satisfaction over the ongoing talks. Paswan, who had initially demanded 40 seats, signaled a breakthrough by saying, “When my Prime Minister is there I have nothing to worry about.” HAM, which contested 7 seats in 2020 and won 4, is demanding 15 seats this time, although an agreement is expected after top-level intervention.
With election dates set for November 6 and 11 and results to be declared on November 14, the BJP and its NDA allies are accelerating candidate selection and ground level preparations.
