Pakistani woman Seema Haider summoned to Noida court as first husband

Seema and Sachin Meena met while playing PUBG mobile game

New Delhi:

Seema Haider, a Pakistani woman who illegally crossed the border to India last year to reunite with her lover, has been summoned by a family court in Noida.

In May last year, Seema Haider sneaked into India with her four underage children and married Ghulam Haider.

Seema and her Indian partner Sachin Meena met while playing the mobile game PUBG. The two claimed to have gotten married in Kathmandu during an earlier meeting.

Ghulam Haider, who lives in Karachi, filed a petition in the family court in Noida through an Indian lawyer challenging the validity of Seema’s marriage to Sachin Meena.

The two also celebrated their first wedding anniversary last month.

In his petition, Ghulam Haider also questioned the religious conversion of his children.

Ghulam Haider’s lawyer Momin Malik claimed that Seema had not divorced Ghulam Haider and her marriage to Sachin was invalid.

Ms Haider has been ordered to appear in court on May 27.

Ghulam Haider first sought help from Pakistan’s top lawyer and human rights activist Ansar Burney to gain custody of his four children.

Ansar Burney, Pakistan’s top lawyer and human rights activist, said Seema’s Pakistani husband, Ghulam Haider, had sought help from him to gain custody of their four children.

Mr Burney subsequently engaged Ali Momin in India and issued him a letter of authorization to initiate legal proceedings in Indian courts.

When Seema Haider came to India via the UAE and Nepal, her first husband was working in Saudi Arabia.

Seema earlier told the BBC in an interview that she had converted to Hinduism and refused to return to Pakistan. Seema Haider claimed that her children also converted to Hinduism.

Mr. Burney has said that under international law, underage children are prohibited from proselytizing.
