New Delhi:
A Pakistani woman was rescued by police after being mobbed for wearing a kurta with Arabic patterns.
The woman accused of blasphemy was attacked when she went to a restaurant in Lahore with her husband, wearing a sleeveless and collarless robe printed with an Arabic pattern that some believed to be a Quranic verse.
The woman was rescued after police were called to the restaurant after people asked her to take off her sleeveless shirt.
A video shared by police showed the woman covering her face with her hands as people surrounded her and raised slogans.
Police also praised the female officer who tried to calm the mob and remove the woman from the restaurant.
In the video, Saida Sheikhbano Naqvi urged the crowd not to resort to any violence. Ms Naqvi said: “The woman went shopping with her husband.
