Pakistani citizens ignored the time limit of ‘India’ exile in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 29, KDC: In view of the Pahalgam terrorist attacks, 26 civilians claiming, Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained dozens of Pakistani citizens – most of the women – the government’s exercises across various districts of the valley to defy the exile orders of the government.

Highly placed sources told Srinagar -based news agency Kashmir.com that all foreign nationals who defined exile orders have been detained by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Most of the detained women who had crossed the POK occupied by Pakistan, lived in the valley for many years, and children were born here.

All the detained persons were first given notice by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), CID Special Branch (SB) Kashmir to leave India, who also holds the charge of the Registration Officer (FRO) of foreigners in Kashmir.

An official told Kashmir.com that the action is being taken in compliance with an order issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs (Foreigns-I Division), which order number 25022/28/2025-F dated order number 25022/28/2025-F on 25 April 2025.

This order had directed that all foreign nationals (Pakistani) living illegally in India should leave the country positively by or before April 27, 2025.

Despite the notice and deadline ending, many Pakistani nationals continued to live in Kashmir. Acting on the lapse, the Jammu and Kashmir Police began a coordinated operation to detain them all that failed to follow the government order.

Sources said that the detained Pakistani citizens will be facilitated to reach the Wagah border, where they will be handed over to Pakistani officials after completing the necessary formalities.

The move has created concern among the families involved, especially many women have been living in Kashmir with family relations for years.

So far, no official public statement has been made about the number of details, but sources confirmed that preparations were underway and being handled at senior administrative levels.

Any Pakistani, who fails to leave India according to the time frame set by the central government, will be arrested and prison for three years can be faced or a maximum of Rs 3 lakh or a fine of both or both, the government said.

Meanwhile, Pakistani wives of former Kashmiri terrorists rehabilitated under the 2010 policy – expressed deep pain over India’s latest visa sanctions, saying that they would die instead of being deported. These women, who later reached Kashmir with their husbands after leaving extremism and joined the mainstream under the rehabilitation policy of the then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, said the government could send them back to body bags compared to force to return to Pakistan.
