Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Friday that there will be a special discussion in the Lok Sabha on Pahgam Terror Attack and Operation Sindoor on 28 July, amidst the ongoing disintegration by the opposition during the monsoon session of Parliament.
Addressing media persons in the national capital, Rijiju said that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla called a meeting of the first Business Advisory Committee (BAC) in the first day, during which it was reiterated that the government is ready for a complete debate on sensitive issues.
“Today, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla called the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), and it was reiterated that we are ready to discuss Operation Sindor. Today it has been decided that there will be special discussion on Pahgam Terror Attack and Operation Sindoor on Monday (July 28).”
The Union Minister said, “We have told them that Operation Sindoor will be discussed first. We will decide what issues will be discussed after that … Operation Sindoor will be debated for 16 hours in Lok Sabha on Monday (July 28) and 16 hours in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday (July 29).”
He further said that many opposition parties, including the Congress, had requested to discuss the issue, and the government agreed to the same, but despite this, the opposition continued to build Rukas and disrupted the proceedings of Parliament.
“Before the commencement of the monsoon session, several opposition parties, including the Congress, requested that the Operation Sindoor and Pahgam terror attacks should be discussed in Parliament. The government said that we are ready to discuss it … The opposition has been creating an uproar in Parliament since one day and has been opposing and outside the Parliament and not working in the house.”
He said, “In the first week of the monsoon session of Parliament, we are capable of passing only one bill … I urge all opposition parties not to disrupt Parliament’s proceedings,” he further said.
Earlier, the Lok Sabha was postponed for the day on Friday and amidst protests and protests by opposition members in the well of the House. The lower house is ready to hold the next meeting on July 28 at 11 am.
The Rajya Sabha was also first adjourned at 2 pm, and is ready to meet at 11 am on Monday. Bharatiya Janata Party MP Jagdambika Pal, while chaired of the Lok Sabha, urged the opposition members to maintain decorations in the House and introduce the bills of private members to discuss.
