As a rift on terrorist suspects intensified amidst anarchy during the Pahalgam attack, security forces and Jammu and Kashmir officials on Sunday demolished the house of a suspect involved in a deadly terrorist attack, killing 26 people, who were mostly tourists, and many were injured.
According to officials, the house in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir was allegedly of a terrorist, who was believed to be involved in an attack in Pahalgam on 22 April.
On Saturday, officials demolished another suspect’s house in Chotipora village in Shopian district. In a separate action, the authorities also demolished the house of another suspect known as Zakir Ahmed Gani in Mutalhama village in Kulgam district. Ghani is believed to have played a role in the Pahalgam terror attack, which has expressed nationwide displeasure.
Officials said Gains were active in terrorist activities since 2023.
Earlier on Friday, Adil Thakar, a terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba (Late) house, was also known as Adil Gure, was demolished.
Adil Gure, a resident of Gurei village in Bijbara block of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, is believed to be involved in the Pahgam attack, killing 26 people, including a Nepali national, most of the tourists.
He has been declared the most desired, and the Anantnag police has given a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any specific information for his arrest. Two Pakistani citizens were also declared the most wanted in the case.
Adil illegally visited Pakistan in 2018, where he allegedly received terrorist training before returning to Jammu and Kashmir last year.
Officials said on Friday that meanwhile, a Lashkar-e-Taliba (late) terrorist colleague was killed by security forces during an ongoing encounter in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The terrorist colleague has been identified as Altaf Lalli of the Lashkar-e-Tabiba organization.
Two security personnel have also been injured in the exchange of fire in the Kulnar area of Aja in the district. According to police officials, both policemen faced gunshot wounds and were transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment, where their condition is said to be stable.
It creates an uproar over the terrorists attacking tourists at Besaran Meadow in Pahgam on 22 April, killing 25 Indian citizens and a Nepali citizen, and several others were injured.
The Indian Army is on high alert, starting several search operations to neutralize terrorists after the attack in Pahgam. The incident has expressed displeasure across the country, demanding strict action against Pakistan on the Pahgam attack, with widespread protests across the country. (AI)
