‘Overseas stars frustrated, combative coach’: Star all-rounder reveals KKR dressing room dissatisfaction in IPL 2023 | Cricket News

“There were certain issues going on behind the scenes with the team. Guys weren’t happy with certain things that were going on and a lot of times it was tough in the dressing room. There was a new coach who came in and he liked to do things a certain way and that was with the players. They don’t quite add up,” David Weiss said on the Hitman for Hire: A Year in the Life of a Franchise Cricketer podcast hosted by Sam Kyle.

He went on to say that some KKR stars were frustrated under the leadership of Chandrakant Pandit.

“Everyone is frustrated because there have been a lot of changes and the coach has brought what he thinks will bring success. But as an overseas player, they get restless at times. He is considered a quite aggressive coach in India, A strict coach. Disciplined. Overseas players who play around the world don’t need someone to come in and tell him how to behave, what to wear, what to do. I’m cool about it but some players are more stubborn than me,” he added .

“As the tournament goes on you get a feel for whether you have a chance of qualifying or not. It’s not about whether you play or not; it’s just about having a few more weeks with your family. For me personally, the outcome of the tournament isn’t that important, But I’m still attracted to individual performances.”

He also mentioned Rinku Singh during the conversation.

“As a player, you appreciate it when players do well. Rinku Singh hit five sixes – it’s impossible not to appreciate that. It’s just that the results don’t matter that much anymore. You don’t sit there and worry. Are you going to win? And you start to invest in the individual performance of these guys.”
