Patna, October 30 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated the people of Bihar on the successful completion of Chhath Puja and said his government is trying to garner global support to include one of the most auspicious festivals, the ‘Maha Parva’, in the UNESCO World Heritage list. He also attacked Congress and RJD for ‘insulting’ Chhathi Maiya.
Addressing his first rally in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur after Chhath Puja, PM Modi said the ‘Maha Parva’ reflects the country’s rich cultural heritage, and as the festival is spreading to all parts of the world, it is an opportunity for the global population to learn from its deep spiritual significance.
PM Modi told the crowd, “Our government is gathering support at the global level to include Chhath Mahaparva in the UNESCO World Heritage List.”
Saying that soulful renditions of Chhath festival fill everyone’s heart with joy, the Prime Minister said that from next year onwards, an all India competition will also be organized to filter and reward young talent singing devotional songs of Chhath Puja.
PM Modi slammed the Congress-RJD alliance for “insulting and insulting” Chhathi Maiya and said the people of Bihar will never accept such behaviour.
He said RJD and Congress leaders dared to compare Chhath Puja to a “drama” and termed it a “vile ploy” on their part to influence voters ahead of the elections.
“Can anyone tolerate the insult of Chhathi Maiya? Can anyone blame Chhath Vratis?” he asked the crowd and heard loud roars of approval.
Taking aim at the RJD-led grand alliance, PM Modi said five words define this unholy alliance and they are – katta (weapon), krurata (cruelty), katuta (bitterness), kushan (misgovernance) and corruption.
