Ottawa – Ottawa’s Canada Day celebrations will be found today, with a speech to deliver a speech during an afternoon program at Prince Edward Labraton Flats Park.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to speak his first Canada Day at this program since assuming office in March.
Canada Day coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Canadian flag this year and the 45th anniversary of the official adoption of O Canada as the national anthem.
The afternoon ceremony in Ottawa will also mark the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope.
General Mary Simon planned to invest six persons in the Canadian order during the ceremony, including actor Ryan Reynolds and composer Heather Rankin.
The evening show in Ottawa will include artists like Sara McLachalan, Koir de Pirate, Branda Montana, Dear Wicked and Alex Wells.
The Ottawa event is again in the west of the Parliament Hill in the Labraton Flats area as the center block has continued renewed which is scheduled to last for one and seven years.
Other Canadian Day celebrations are taking place across the country, including the Canada Tuger event in Vancouver and a celebration at Victoria Park in Charlottown.
