Ottawa- The head of an Ottawa-based Canadian Army Regiment has been temporarily removed as part of the investigation of alleged online behavior that the army commander has humiliated the army.
Lieutenant General. Michael Wright says that the Commanding Officer of Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa has been removed from his post in connection with the investigation of the “Blue Haikle Mafia” social media group.
Wright had earlier stated that Facebook group positions included “racist, misunderstanding, homophobic and antisemetic comments and pictures” and allegations included “Canadian Army members”.
In an internal statement shared with the Canadian press, Wright says the incident has damaged the reputation of the Canadian army.
He says that the army is still investigating any alleged immoral conduct from the service of army members that were part of the group.
The investigation will include a review of the army’s social media use policies.
