“Opposition’s right to demand a special Parliament session on the Pahgam attack”: Ghulam Nabi Azad

Democratic Progressive Azad Party President Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Tuesday that the opposition is within its rights to demand a special session of Parliament in response to a recent terror attack in Pahgam, saying that a unanimous call has been received for unity among all political parties.

Speaking to ANI, Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “This is the right of the opposition, you cannot reject them. So far, all political parties have given very responsible statements. Only unity has been negotiated. Just a proposal is to be passed in Parliament, so I don’t think any political party will stand against the government.”

The head of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party also highlighted the unprecedented public response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, stating that for the first time, people voluntarily took the streets on the streets – including attacks on religious places, to condemn terrorism without political signs.

“In the past, street protests only occurred when under the leadership of political leaders. This time, people pushed themselves forward,” Azad said, emphasizing the emergence of a strong anti -terrorism environment among Muslims in Kashmir.

He criticized the lack of media coverage of these protests, stating that a comprehensive broadcast would have sent a firm message to Pakistan.

“If the protests were covered properly by the media, Pakistan would have received a good reply. There is no sympathy for Pakistan in the hearts of Kashmiris,” he said.

Earlier in the day, the Janata Dal (United) also extended its support for the NDA’s collective stance, amidst the opposition’s demand for a special session of Parliament on the recent terrorist attack in Pahgam.
