In Niagra region, drivers are being asked to take precautions after several disturbing incidents of rocks throwing on highways moving vehicles.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says that incidents have been reported in the following areas:
- Highway 406 between Westchester Avenue and Fourth Avenue, St. Catherine.
- Mountain RD, Quv near Niagra Falls.
- Pine Saint, Highway 58 near Thorold.
The OPP said, “OPP wants to advise the public to take precautions while driving in these areas and calls 911 if your vehicle is killed or if you throw the rocks, the OPP said.
Niagra is leading the investigation with the help of OPP OPP Highway Safety Division Crime Unit and Niagra Regional Police.
No suspicious details were immediately available.
During an incident near Mountain Road, OPP Sergeant. Kerry Schmid said that the witnesses reported to see two or three people Throwing rocks from a railway overpass.
Police say a vehicle was damaged, but no injuries.
Schmid said in a video post on social media, “This is a very serious matter, resulting in serious injuries or even ambush, depending on what comes through someone’s windshield because they are going below the highway, completely unaware that someone is committing mischief from above.”
