New Delhi, Nov 11 (IANS) Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Tuesday said ‘Operation Sindoor’ is a striking example of modern warfare, where precision strike capabilities, network-centric operations, digital intelligence and multi-domain tactics were effectively deployed within a compressed time frame. In his special address on ‘Impact of Technology on Modern Warfare’ at the Delhi Defense Dialogue, the CDS underlined the imperative for military leadership to rapidly adapt to emerging realities, noting that technological superiority has become a decisive factor in determining success on the battlefield. General Anil Chauhan stressed that war is fundamentally about ensuring victory, and those who lead in technology will ultimately win. Highlighting the profound impact of emerging technologies, evolving doctrines and changing geopolitical dynamics, he stressed that modern warfare is being reshaped by rapid innovation, strategic partnerships and organizational change within the armed forces. The two-day event organized by the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defense Studies and Analyzes (MP-IDSA) on the theme ‘Using New Age Technology for Defense Capability Development’ was inaugurated by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. In her welcome address, Director General, MP-IDSA Ambassador Sujan Chinoy highlighted the special significance of the occasion, which coincides with the 60th Foundation Day of the Institute. He reflected on the transformative role of technology in shaping modern defense capabilities and emphasized that armed forces around the world are transitioning from the industrial to the information and cyber age. Director General, MP-IDSA said that emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Quantum Physics are becoming important determinants in war and security. He stressed the importance of striking a balance between foreign technology acquisition and indigenous defense manufacturing while advocating a self-reliant approach under the Atmanirbharta policy. This dialogue brings together policy makers, researchers, industry leaders and academicians to share insights on how new age technologies can be effectively used to enhance India’s defense capability.
