A local right-wing Hindu group in Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal asked Garba organizers to allow entry only to those who worship “Varaha”, the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu, to prevent members of other communities from entering. . Earlier, a BJP leader in Madhya Pradesh demanded that people who wish to participate in garba dance must drink “cow urine” during the Navratri festival starting from October 3.
Chandrashekhar Tiwari, director of the ‘Sanskriti Bachao Manch’ in Bhopal, said the garba organizers should allow people to enter the pandal only after worshiping ‘varaha’. He said Varaha’s photo should be placed at the entrance to the panda park.
Furthermore, every participant should get ‘Panch-Gavya’ which includes cow urine, dung, milk, curd and ghee, said Chandrashekhar Tiwari. He said the conditions would prevent entry by other community members who consider Varaha’s avatar impure.
He further said that only those who believe in Sanatan Dharma will be ready to accept “Panch-Gavya”. Earlier, Indore district BJP president Chintu Verma advised garba organizers to allow entry only to those who drink cow urine or urine.
