Only speculation, no decision on resignation: Manipur CM

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday said talks of resignation by him, his cabinet colleagues and MLAs were “just speculations and we are not taking any decision right now.”

Singh’s comments come in the wake of a report that went viral on social media on Saturday which said that Singh, along with his Cabinet colleagues and MLAs from both the Hills and the Valley, had sought to raise demands with the Central government regarding the state. Have taken a resolution. , warning that unless urgent issues were addressed, they would all resign. “No concrete decision has been taken regarding the resignation and the matter is being discussed,” he told reporters here.

Responding to media questions on the sidelines of an event, Singh said, “We have to take a concrete decision to protect our people and the state.” To whom will we hand over the administration? We have to think about this also.” “In this particular case, we should not play politics. We should not listen to the voices of vested interests… We are wondering what the situation will be. We are primarily concerned about people’s lives. To whom will we hand over the responsibility? We are discussing this in detail. We may resign or not but we are serious.

Responding to a question on the recent violence in the state, Singh said, “The killing of four civilians each in Haotak and Ningthokhong is highly condemnable. This is a cowardly act. We have arrested those who killed Moreh SDPO Anand. Similarly, those involved in the killing of civilians will also be booked.”

Earlier, addressing the public on the occasion of the 52nd Statehood Day, Singh said, “Central forces are not being invited to come and see what is happening. We invited them to protect the state, people’s lives and properties. They are not being invited to watch.”

The Manipur Chief Minister also asked “State Commandos, IRB and Manipur Rifles personnel to remain ready at all times.” ,
