“Only added to mystery”: After Amit Shah, Jairam Ramesh says that “don’t fuss” on Dhankar’s resignation

New Delhi, August 25: Congress leader Jayram Ramesh said on Monday that after the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, meeting the story on Monday could be more story that the opposition should not make a disturbance for the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhikar.

The Congress leader praised Dhankhar for having a sticker for criteria, owners and protocols and fearlessly speak for the welfare and judicial accountability of farmers.

In a post on X, Ramesh said, “Today the Home Minister has tried to say more. But he has added only to the secret. There is no explanation of why irreversible and furious Sri Dhankar – who made the cause of farmers champion – is completely income completely in a month.”

In an interview with ANI, the Union Home Minister said that Dhankar resigned due to health issues and dismissed the opposition’s claims that he was subject to “House Arrest”.

“Dhankar Saheb’s resignation letter is clear in itself. He has cited health reasons for his resignation. He has expressed his heartfelt gratitude for his good tenure towards the Prime Minister and other ministers and government members.”

Citing health reasons, Dhankhar left the post on July 21, but according to the Congress leader is more for the “unexpected resignation” of the former vice -president.

Ramesh said, “Shri Jagdeep Dhankar suddenly and unexpectedly resigned as the vice -president of India on the night of 21 July 2025. It was unprecedented. A day later, the PM only wished him good health,” said Ramesh.

In an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the Congress leader wrote, “The entire resignation episode is really bizarre and shows how G2 work is done.”
Meanwhile, Shah warned against a lot of reading in Dhankar’s resignation, saying that “we should not make fuss with all this.” He encouraged people to respect Dhankhar’s constitutional role and his decision to step down.

He said that Dhankhar’s resignation should be seen through the lens of his official statement rather than political interpretations.
On Dhankar’s claims of Dhankar’s “House Arrest” by some opposition leaders, Shah said, “It seems that your truth and lies are based on what the opposition has to say. We should not make a disturbance with all this. Dhankar organized a constitutional position and discharged his duties according to the constitution. He should not live.”

The opposition is guessing the reasons behind the resignation of Dhankhar, with some suggestions that it was forced due to differences with the government.

However, the BJP has said that Dhankar resigned for health reasons and dismissed any differences with it.

Dhankar resigned on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament on July 21, stating that he wanted to “prefer health care and follow medical advice.” At that time, he was serving as the President of Rajya Sabha and presented his resignation letter to President Draupadi Murmu. (AI)
