At least on person was killed after a business jet collided into another plane on Monday at Scottsdale airport in Arizona.
According to authorities, one person remained trapped inside one of the planes, while three others were taken to hospital.
“A Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing and crashed into a Gulfstream 200 business jet on the ramp at Scottsdale Municipal Airport in Arizona,” a spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) said in a statement.
“We do not know how many people were on board. The FAA is temporarily pausing flights into the airport,” he added.
Meanwhile, fire department was also deployed on the runway to rescue the trapped person.
“I can tell you that we have five souls, one dead on arrival at hospital, two immediate that have been transported to local trauma centers,” he told a press conference,” an official said.
The crash was the latest in a series of aviation tragedies that have rocked the United States.
This incident follows two other major US aviation mishaps in the past eight days, a collision between a commercial jetliner and an Army helicopter near Washington, DC, that killed 67 people on January 29 and a medical transport plane crash in Philadelphia on January 31, which claimed seven lives.
