He recalled that a major earthquake, a super cyclone, after drought and political instability, was given the responsibility of the leading Gujarat in ‘very testing circumstances’.

Prime Minister The day he took oath, he also remembered the words of his late mother. “When I took an oath as Chief Minister, I remember my mother is telling me – I don’t understand much of your work, but I only look for two things. First, you will always work for the poor and second, you will never take bribe,” he said.

He further mentioned in his post that these 25 years of service was ‘full of many experiences’, during which India made ‘remarkable progress’.

Talking about his tenure as Gujarat CM, he said that through collective efforts, Gujarat became a “power house of good governance”.

Once drought-hit, the state became a top artist in agriculture, Modi said. He said, “The culture of trading expanded to strong industrial and manufacturing capabilities. Regular curfew became a matter of past. Social and physical infrastructure was promoted. It was very satisfactory to be able to work with people to achieve these results,” he said.

Considering the national leadership, Modi also saw his nomination as a candidate of BJP’s Prime Minister in 2013, when he noted that the country was facing “confidence and crisis of governance”.

“The then UPA government was synonymous with the worst form of corruption, cronyism and policy paralysis. India was seen as a weak link in the global order. But, the knowledge of the people of India gave a hurdle to our alliance and also ensured that our party got an absolute majority, first after three long decades.

In the last 11 years, Modi said that India has seen many adaptations, which empower citizens, including citizens, youth and farmers. “In the last 11 years, we, the people of India have worked together and have achieved many changes. Our efforts to throw our paths have empowered the people of India, especially our women power, youth power and hardworking Annadas.”

He said that more than 25 crore people have been removed from poverty and India is now seen as “a bright place among major global economies”.
