Omar Abdullah will not be afraid of terror after a special cabinet meeting in Pahgam.

Web Desk, 27/05/2025

Pahgam, May 27: Tourism should be neutral and should not have a barometer to project the general situation, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday asked to give a clear message here after a special cabinet meeting that the government would not be afraid of the cowardice of terror “.

The Chief Minister thanked people for condemning terrorist violence at his first press conference after a terrorist attack in Besaran Meadows in Pahalgam on 22 April.
He said, “I want to thank the people of Kashmir especially those who condemned a voice against the terrorist strike on tourists on 22 April and stood in a voice. For this, I thank them and salute them,” he said.
The Chief Minister also said that steps are being taken by his administration and center, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to support the tourism sector, who held a high-level meeting of stakeholders last week.
Abdullah said, “I was recently in Delhi, where I got a chance to meet the Prime Minister on the occasion of Neeti Ayog meeting. I have made him aware of the situation of the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir and assured full support,” Abdullah said that in the last week’s meeting, the meeting at the central level had discussed extensive struggles for tourism.
After the special cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the Chief Minister’s Office posted on the X paintings of the meeting held at Pahalgam Club.
“The cabinet met here and discussed the government agenda, but the meeting in the cabinet was to showcase that people would not be seen from terrorist violence and our resolve for the development of Jammu and Kashmir will continue,” he said in his first press conference after the April 22 terror attack, in which 26 people were closed mainly, mainly tourists were closed.
In a message on ‘X’, his office posted that it was not just a regular administrative practice, but a clear message “We are not afraid of the cowardly acts of terror.
“Enemies of peace will never determine our resolve. Jammu and Kashmir stand firm, strong and fearless,” said this.

This is the first time a cabinet meeting was held outside Abdullah’s tenure of the general summer capital Srinagar, or Winter Capital, Jammu.
For the revival of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir and a question of closure of various tourist destinations after the April 22 terrorist attack at Besaran Meadows in Pahgam, he said that the government is taking “a step” at a time.
“The last five to six weeks have been a difficult time for the country, especially for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. So I would suggest that we will organize the safety audit of various tourist places and start opening them slowly,” he said.
Pahalgam’s choice is aimed at showing solidarity with tourist city residents, which has experienced a sharp decline in tourist footfall since the April 22 terror attack.
“Tourism should be a conflict-plated activity and not a barometer to project a normal situation. There are many other mechanisms through which we can measure peace. I always want to see that tourism is untouched by the struggle and the world should see it as an economic activity,” he said.
Answering a question that various stakeholders had a huge loan and whether the government is planning to give them some relief, he said, “Tourism has faced and negotiations with the concerned departments are already going on to provide big or small relief to all the stakeholders.” Officials insisted that the importance of the assembly is more in its direct message for anti-national and anti-social elements, which is not a place of violence in Jammu and Kashmir.
During his first term as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir since 2009-14, Abdullah held cabinet meetings from 2009-14, in remote areas of North Kashmir and Rajouri and Ponch regions of North Kashmir.

The decision to organize a special cabinet meeting also comes after three days when Abdullah proposed a dual approach to resume the Jammu and Kashmir tourist sector, which was severely affected by the Pahalgam terror attack, urged the Center to hold meetings in Kashmir and call the Parliamentary Committee meetings in Kashmir.
He made this appeal at the meeting of the Governing Council of Neeti Ayog under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Chief Minister believes that these concrete efforts by the government will significantly reduce public apprehensions, promote a new sense of security and trust, and eventually paved the way for the revival of tourism in the Kashmir Valley, which made a very necessary economic relief and return to generality.
On April 28, a special day -long assembly session was also held in Jammu, which unanimously passed a resolution against the Pahalgam terrorist attack and resolved to fully fight to defeat nefarious designs to reduce communal harmony and obstruct progress.
“The Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir confirmed its unwavering commitment to promote the atmosphere of peace, development and inclusive prosperity for all its citizens, and to fully defeat the nefarious designs of those who want to harass the communal harmony and progress of the nation and said that Jammu and Kashmir said.”
Abdullah said in his 26-minute emotional speech that he would not use a terrorist attack as an opportunity to press Jammu and Kashmir for the restoration of the state, saying that he does not believe in “cheap politics”.
