Family members told responding officers they heard five to seven shots fired and the victim “commented that someone got a new gun for Christmas” and shortly after “said ‘Ouch’ and collapsed,” according to the affidavit.
When investigators searched nearby homes north of the shooting, deputies found that all but one had “suitable shooting tailgates or shooting locations,” the affidavit states. The only exception is the Adams home.
Adams allegedly told deputies he used Red Bull cans as targets in his backyard to shoot with a Glock 45 he had recently bought for himself for Christmas, according to the affidavit.
When an officer told Adams he suspected a shooting may have killed the woman, Adams “became visibly distraught and began crying,” the affidavit states.
Adams made his first court appearance Friday. A judge set his bail at $100,000, according to online court records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 26, 2026.
