One ohio doctor is facing criminal charges after authorities say he allegedly secretly and forcibly gave an abortion pill to a pregnant woman, causing her to miscarry.

The woman later told police that she woke up to Abbas coming over her and trying to force medicine down her throat. He said he swallowed the substance out of fear of suffocation. Abbas reportedly told her that her father would never allow the pregnancy to continue.

The woman said Abbas took her phone and keys to prevent her from calling 911. She ran away and tried to make him vomit before going to the hospital. Police said there was residue of white powder on his face, sleeves and bed.

Abbas was released from the Lucas County Correctional Center Medical Center after posting $75,000 bond and was ordered to surrender his passport. His pre-trial hearing is scheduled for January 30.
