Bhubaneswar, 8 October (IANS) The Department of Oriya Language, Literature and Culture on Wednesday decided to restore the ancestral residence of Nobel Prize winner and poet Rabindranath Tagore in Puri and develop it as a museum.
According to an official statement released on Wednesday, several important decisions were taken including the renovation of Tagore’s ancestral residence ‘Pather Puri’ during a high -level review meeting of the department held here under the chairmanship of Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj.
The Odisha Culture Department said, “Pather Puri, the ancestral residence of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore located in Puri, will be restored and developed as a museum dedicated to the memory of the great poet.”
It was also decided in a high-level meeting that eminent Odia writers and their literary contribution will be displayed at a theme pavilion during the upcoming Bali Yatra festival in Cuttack, which is going to start from 5 November.
The department also decided to invite Indonesia as the participant country in this year’s Bali Yatra program. The department said, “Indonesia will be invited as a partner country for organizing this year. Under the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ initiative, an Indian state will also be invited as a partner state. In addition, cultural parties from many South Asian countries will be invited to participate and perform their traditional performances.”
Another important development, the department has also decided to accelerate the process of filling all the vacant posts in the Government of Sanskriti University, Utkal Music College, Vibhuti Kanungo College of Art and Crafts. Arts and Crafts College, Khalikote. Similarly, after the financial assistance provided to Gajalakshmi Puja of Dhenkanal, the Department of Culture will also provide financial assistance to the Centralpara Gajalakshmi Pooja Utsav.
The state archeology will work for the renovation and protection of the Kalidas temple in the centerpada district. According to the official statement, the Culture Department has directed the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) to expedite the construction work of Odia Asmita Bhawan located near Sainik School, Bhubaneswar.
