Odisha: Kang Leader Flags CAG Report demands action on misuse of ST/SC funds

Bhubaneswar, 25 September (IANS) CLP leader Ram Chandra Kadam wrote a letter to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Mangi on Thursday, demanding strict action against the officials involved in the alleged financial misuse in the alleged financial misuse for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes in Odisha.

In his letter, Kadam on Wednesday cited the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) collided with the Odisha Assembly, which demolished serious irregularities in the transaction under the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA).

“I am attracting my own attention about serious irregularities and financial misuse reports, with proper respect, which has been published in the recent Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report for ST/SC development schemes under ITDA in Odisha,” Kadam wrote.

Audit has expressed concern that the funds made for welfare schemes were allegedly robbed and allegedly robbed by Assistant Engineers (AES) and Junior Engineers (Jess).

He further alleged that the funds made for the upliftment of weak communities were misused.

“Report highlights gross laps in financial transactions and these funds have been used by AE and JE in money laundering. These funds are for the upliftment and welfare of most weak communities. Such immoral and illegal action by AE and JE not only reduces the purpose of these important welfare schemes, but also involves administration.”

He urged the Chief Minister to start an independent, time-to-time investigation under the alleged misconduct of public money and hold them all accountable. He also requested the Chief Minister to ensure recovery of wrong money, and in future to ensure transparency in the implantation of various welfare schemes.

Kadam also emphasized the need to take conclusions and action against wrong officials to restore confidence among ST/SC communities.

“The ST/SC communities of Odisha have trusted the support of government welfare initiatives to overcome historical losses for a long time. The misuse of funds allocated for their development is not just a financial offense-it is their faith and future betrayal,” the letter states.

Kadam called for strict and exemplary action against the alleged officials, claiming that such steps will strengthen the values ​​of justice, accountability and inclusive development.

In particular, the audit exposed suspected misuse of Rs 148.75 crore from 71 bank accounts run by Junior and Assistant Engineers to 11 samples from the audit, 2018-19 to 2022-23.
