Odisha Assembly protested against the current of PRI powers against BJD

Bhubaneswar, 22 September (IANS) Logjam in the Odisha Assembly continued on the fourth day of the monsoon session on Monday as the government created a huge uproar by the opposition Biizu Janata Dal (BJD) over the alleged attempt by the government to reduce the power of the elected representatives under the three-Tier Panchayati Institutions (Pris).

As soon as the house proceedings started, BJD MLAs led to a storm in the well of the House and staged a noise protests in front of the speaker’s podium shouting anti -government slogans.

Congress MLAs standing in their seats staged a silent protest inside the House, in which the bills were called the opposition BJD and the BJP as brothers, who did not allow the house to work.

Despite the uproar, the speaker Surma Padi tried to operate the question hour. The Law Minister was seen answering questions of some ruling party methods, but the protest continued by the BJD members.

The speaker appealed to the agitating legislators to maintain discipline and cooperate for the smooth conduct of action.

Between the noise protest by BJD and a placard demonstration by the Congress, the time of question continued briefly for about seven minutes, before Rukus forced the speaker to postpone the House by 4 pm

Talking to media persons, BJD chief Koda Pramila Mallik said, “The Panchayati Raj system has been abolished. After the BJP -led government came to power, it stopped various projects to be implemented in the first blocks. After that reduced several conspiracies to weaken the Panchayati Raj system.

He also demanded that the state government immediately restore elected representatives to the authority and ensure decentralization of power, which they had enjoyed earlier.

He slammed the state government to vested the powers contained in the elected representatives at the ground level as government officials, such as the Block Development Officer.

In particular, BJD on Tuesday announced to staging a circle of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. On the other hand, Congress CLP leader Ram Chandra Kadam alleged that both the ruling BJP and the main opposition BJD had conspired simultaneously to stop the discussion on the Congress transferred by the Congress in the House through Pandineium.
