Odisha assembly monsoon session starting today

Bhubaneswar, 18 September (IANS) The monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly is ready to start from Thursday, and the opposition is ready to close the horns with the state government, which has increased the issues related to farmers’ crisis due to increasing fertilizer crisis and increasing cases of atrocities against women in the state.

The session will begin on 18 September with obituari contexts. On 19 September, the House will take the bills of private members, and from 20 to 25 September, five days are named as official business days.

Earlier, on 16 September, an all-party meeting was held before the upcoming session in which opposition parties assured support for the smooth functioning of the assembly.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Senior BJD leader and party whip in the assembly, Pramila Mallik, Congress CLP leader Ram Chandra Kadam attended the meeting with other leaders.

The Chairman Padi appealed to all the members for active and creative participation during the session.

“All parties have assured their cooperation according to legislative criteria. We expect a meaningful discussion on public issues that can give rise to impressive results for the people of Odisha,” she said.

In order to maintain decorations and discipline from the legislators, Pathi said, “I expect all MLAs to express their views thinking, maintain the decoration of the House and make positive contribution to the action.”

Talking to media persons, BJD leader Mallik said that the party will give full support for the functioning of the House as per constitutional provisions.

He also clarified that the opposition BJD will raise important issues related to the people, which have to face problems of farmers, women, SC/STS, etc.

On the other hand, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mahaling claimed that the state government is fully prepared to discuss any issue raised by the opposition – especially about farmers, teachers, students and women.

He also mentioned that the 24-year tenure of the BJP BJD, the track record of the previous Congress government, will highlight the achievements of the BJP-led state government in the last 15 months.
