According to the minister’s data, Maharashtra tops the list with 3,079 EV charging stations, followed by Delhi with 1,886 charging stations and Karnataka in third place with 1,041 charging stations.

Meanwhile, other states in the top 10 include Kerala (852), Tamil Nadu (643), Uttar Pradesh (582), Rajasthan (500), Telangana (481) , Gujarat (476) and Madhya Pradesh (341).

The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has been working to promote electric vehicles in India. Minister Gurjar said the FAME-II scheme includes financial support in the form of subsidies for setting up public charging infrastructure to boost confidence among electric vehicle users. In addition, the Ministry of Power has launched several initiatives to accelerate the deployment of public electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the country.

The government has published charging infrastructure guidelines and standards to allow electric vehicle owners to charge their vehicles at home or work using existing electricity connections. The information was released via a press release from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

The press release mentioned that with the introduction of the revenue sharing model, there are also plans to provide land for public charging stations at promotional prices and provide power connections to Public Charging Stations (PCS) for a scheduled period of time.

In addition, the government has set a single electric vehicle electricity price for public charging stations. This amount cannot exceed the average cost of supply (ACoS) until March 31, 2025. As per the guidelines, the maximum charge allowed for slow AC charging of electric vehicles at PCS during solar and non-solar hours is Rs 2.50 per unit and Rs 3.50 per unit respectively.
