The National Security Guard (NSG), known worldwide for its zero-error record in special operations, is undergoing a new manpower rationalization process under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Discussions are ongoing on whether the VIP unit should be retained in the NSG and sources said its inclusion in the NSG may affect the number of personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces in the NSG. If this move is implemented, induction of CAPF may be reduced.

The Union Home Ministry has held several meetings and senior officials claimed that the move will transform the entire organization and take the force to the next level and be more forceful.

Additionally, potential intensity reductions were considered. Top sources familiar with the rationalization process said the Nuclear Suppliers Group would be transformed into a professional combat force that would prioritize counterterrorism operations over providing security for VIPs.

Recently, a letter was circulated asking the Central Armed Police Force to stop recruiting troops who have completed the assault transfer training course. However, this statement was refuted by NSG senior officials. The letter relates to the induction of 86 personnel and recommends against their release as a result of the ongoing rationalization process.

For key figures currently receiving security from the NSG, such as Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a senior official mentioned that the Central Reserve Police Force would be responsible for providing security They provide security. Apart from the Gandhi family, which was once protected by the SPG, the CRPF is already responsible for the security of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

As a federal emergency force, the Nuclear Suppliers Group’s main mission is to combat terrorist activities to protect countries from internal disturbances caused by such activities, including the elimination of terrorists, anti-hijacking operations, and hostage rescues. In addition, NSG is responsible for providing mobile security protection to designated high-risk VIPs.

The National Security Guard was conceived and created after studying and analyzing special forces such as the British SAS, French GIGN, German GSG-9, Israeli Sayaret-e-Matkal, and American Delta Force. The basic philosophy of the Nuclear Suppliers Group is to strike quickly and swiftly and to withdraw from the theater immediately.
