Nothing Ear, Nothing Ear A is confirmed to launch on this date

The British startup led by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced on Friday that Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear A will launch next month. The company’s third generation of truly wireless stereo (TWS) audio products were previously expected to debut as the Nothing Ear 3, but the company has announced that it will refocus its product naming strategy, starting with the successor to the Ear 2 TWS headphones. Nothing will also launch a second audio product with an “a” suffix, similar to the Phone 2a.

On Friday, Nothing confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that it will launch two new products – Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear A – on April 18. Nothing Ear is expected to succeed Nothing Ear 2, which launches in 2023. It’s unclear whether Nothing Ear A will be available as a cheaper version of Nothing Ear.

Interestingly, Nothing plans to launch audio products with letter suffixes – the company launched the Nothing Phone 2a, a mid-range smartphone that arrived a few months after the more expensive Phone 2 launched last year.

If the upcoming Nothing Ear A is launched as a cheaper version of Nothing Ear, it could end up competing with Nothing’s own sub-brand CMF, which also sells affordable TWS audio products priced between Rs. 2,499 Rs 3,499 in India. Alternatively, the company could launch the Nothing Ear priced around Rs. 10,000 mark, Ear A can be positioned around Rs. 5,000 marks.

There was no indication that the decision to rename the strategy to exclude numbers was made after the company hit a three-year milestone, adding that it wanted to focus on product. We can speculate that subsequent models will include the year the product was launched to differentiate it from its predecessors.
