Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday shared a detailed reflection at the completion of 10 years of the ‘Digital India’ initiative, which is a mission to “democratize, build an inclusive digital infrastructure and build opportunities for all.”

In a post on the social media platform LinkedIn, the Prime Minister shared his blog with the title “A decade of Digital India”, where he stressed that the previous decades were marked by skepticism about Indians’ ability to use technology, his government changed the attitude by relying on the abilities of citizens.

He emphasized that technology was used not to widen inequalities but to bridge the gap between privileged and marginalized.

The article reads, “Ten years ago, we started a bold journey in the unwanted area with a large punishment. While doubting the ability of Indians to use the technology of decades, we changed this approach and trusted the ability to use Indians. While the use of technology would deepen the gap between Havs and Hahavs-Entate.

“When the intention is correct, the innovation gives the right to be less empowered. When the approach is inclusive, the technology brings changes in the lives of those people on margin. Highlighting the progress made since 2014, Prime Minister Modi said that internet connections in the country have increased from 25 crores to more than 97 crores, and more than 42 lakh kilometers optical fiber cables have been kept to provide internet connections to remote villages.

He wrote, “In 2014, the penetration of the Internet was limited, digital literacy was low, and online access to government services was rare. Many people suspected whether India as India can really and diversely be really digital. Today, the answer to that question is not only given in data and dashboard, but in the lives of 140 million Indians.

“In 2014, India had about 25 crore internet connections. Today, this number has exceeded 97 crores. He said, “GEM (Government e-Marketplace) enables the common man to sell all the arms and services of the government. It not only empowers the common man with a huge market, but also saves money for the government,” he said.

Citing an example, the Prime Minister said, “Imagine: You apply online for a currency loan. Your credit is evaluated through an account aggregator framework. You get your loan and start your enterprise. You register on gems, supplies schools and hospitals, and then scal via ONDC.”

He further said, “ONDC recently crossed 200 million transactions, with the last 100 million in just six months. From Banarasi weavers to bamboo artisans in bamboo, sellers are now reaching nationwide customers without nationwide or digital monoparies. Price ₹ 46,000 crore.”

Praising India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), PM Modi highlighted, “From India’s DPI, Aadhaar, Kovin, Digilokar and Fastag from PM-Wani and Forest Nation One Subscription are now studied and adopted globally.”

He said, “Kovin enabled the world’s largest vaccination drive, issuing 220 crore QR-classical certificates. Digilokar, with 54 crore users, hosts 775 crore crore+ documents safely and originally. Through our G20 Presidency, India launched a global DPI repository and a har-25 million social effects.

Calling India a major startup hub, he said that the country now ranks into the top three global startup ecosystems with more than 1.8 million startups. He also highlighted India’s progress in artificial intelligence, saying that India has given humanity-first AI ‘champion’.

Prime Minister Modi imagined that the coming decade would take India from ‘digital governance’ to ‘global digital leadership’.

The Prime Minister said, “The next decade will be even more transformative. We are moving from digital regime to global digital leadership, from India to India-first. Digital India has not been the only government programs; it has become a movement of people. It is central to build an atamaneer, and to make India a reliable innovative partner.”

He said, “All innovators, Entrepreneurs and Dreamers: The World is looking at India for the next digital success. Let us make what we make. Let us really matter. We lead with the technique that involves united, involved and uplift,” he said. (AI)
